Mustang Delivers Gavel To Governor Stitt
For the last 36 years the Mustang High School woodworking classes have been making and selling Gavels to the Governor of Oklahoma. He or she has then presented them to the incoming economic development team leaders. There are two: one recruits businesses from around the USA & one that recruits from around the world. We usually have 5-7 students build them, and then we take them to the Capitol around Valentines day. Former teacher, Donny Rudek and Mike McGarry started this in 1985. When students deliver the gavel, they receive a tour of the Capitol, the Governor's mansion, and they meet the Representatives and Senators for the Mustang area.
